T-Ball

Chase started his first organized sport this spring with 3 weeks of T-Ball.  We went in with big expectations based on his ability to hit the ball at home.  We quickly learned that there are some things he's pretty good at, but he still needs a little work on the whole catching the ball thing.

It also gave us our first chance to compare him to a bunch of other 4 year olds.  Everybody was pretty much at the same level.  Hopeless to actually catch a ball in a glove, but a lot of valiant efforts.  Everyone learned how to point, step, and throw.  We did experience our first jealous reaction to another 4 year old.  His name was Max.  Max could chuck a ball 40 feet and catch a ball that his dad threw.  He could run faster than Laura and could hit the ball pretty decently.  His mom was a good yeller, so I told Laura she needed to start yelling some more too.  Oh well, guess we need to practice for next year.

Chase got a big medal at the end and was pretty excited.  If we weren't in Iowa the next 5 weekends we could have done summer t-ball, but that will have to be it for this year.

Last weekend was boys weekend at the house.  Actually the first time I had the boys by myself overnight for more than one night.  (Don't tell Laura that) We managed pretty well.  Saturday involved going to the zoo that is an hour away.  That way you get two hours of driving built in.  We had a pretty good time there looking at all the animals.  Miles liked the monkeys and the fish.  He was also pretty fascinated by the cows.  Sunday we hung around the house and played outside on our $5 dollar slip and slide which worked like you would expect a $5 dollar slip and slide to work.

I'm once again reminded that I could not be a stay at home dad until they are both in school.  We bought a new camera last weekend as well so we are actually taking more pictures.  The link to them is below.
