So Laura gave potty training a try and after a day and 2 hours of following Chase around the house while he peed himself like someone with the tiniest bladder in the world, she decided he may not be ready. Seriously, who knew that kids actually pee like every 45 minutes at this age, it's crazy. And he just didn't care that pee was running down his leg. He just stopped, let it flow, and then went about his business. Meanwhile, we would have to hunt him down, take off his pants, wipe him down, and start over. It was awesome.
She tried this on Monday and it was one of those days that when I walked in the door after work I realized I better take care of Chase the rest of the night. Every parent knows those days where there kids just bug them so much they want to just set them outside while they sit down and have a drink while watching TV. Laura had a couple of those, and as someone walking into this situation, it is better to just take the child and get the hell out of there for the benefit of both Chase and myself. :) So we immediately headed to the basement to watch blues clues or something. Needless to say we will be changing diapers for a little longer.
Other than that, Laura and I just took a trip to Mexico for a week. You always wonder what Chase actually thinks as we say "good-bye, see you in a week" and beeline for the door. We left him with Val and he was trying to chase us down the stairs, crying the whole way. We equipped them with the proper entertainment and 10 minutes later while watching the movie cars and eating some snacks, we were promptly forgotten.
Thankfully, Chase is good when he stays with these other people. Much better than he is with us. He stops whining, wants to go to bed, sleeps in until 8, etc... So on the one hand you are like, "why doesn't he do that with us", but on the other hand you say, "keep doing it, that way they will take him the next time" He was happier to see us this time when we got back. He basically just started laughing and then was clinging to Laura for about the next half hour.
Next up, his 2nd birthday. Only a month away and it is on Easter this year. So time to figure out the presents and make him a cake and all that stuff. So we should have some exciting pictures from that.
